Sometime during 2023, I got a chance to read this book. I was someone who didn’t have the ability to read books. Well I was and am a visual learner. But this was the starting point where I read a full book, not due to the pressure of exams, not due to the pressure of being better at things, but just because I found it engaging and fun to read. Hence, I would confidently say, this is one of the most beginner friendly books I have come across so far. The book talks about a lot of aspects about design. If I have to put it in a nutshell, empathizing with your user is the key to successful design. That’s at least my biggest takeaway. Following are some of the interesting things discussed in this book:
- Arrangement of the groceries store from essentials and difficult storage(frozen items) and going around, such that you visit every corner of the store..
- Engagement with different activities bis the key, max vs subway
- Emphasizing with the user is the key
- Choice of color is one of the crucial things to decide on what kind of emotions you want your audience to feel
- Museums with every single step you take should simulate the feeling of you walking through the story.
- Why is pink associated with females?
- Emojis were from Japan.
- The metro station maps have a name. What is it?
